Residents across Grant Parish should prepare for several days of showers and thunderstorms as an unsettled weather pattern continues across Central Louisiana, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.

Forecasters say rain chances will remain elevated throughout the week and into the Memorial Day weekend, with multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms expected across the parish.

Wednesday is forecast to bring showers and thunderstorms beginning during the late morning hours, with highs reaching near 84 degrees. Light southerly winds around 5 mph are expected, and the chance of precipitation is estimated at 90 percent.

Rain and thunderstorm activity is expected to continue Wednesday night under cloudy skies, with overnight lows around 70 degrees and a 70 percent chance of rainfall.

Additional storms are likely Thursday as showers and thunderstorms redevelop throughout the day. High temperatures are expected to remain in the lower 80s with rain chances around 80 percent.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms may linger Thursday night before gradually decreasing overnight.

Forecasters expect another active weather day Friday, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours when additional thunderstorms are likely to develop. Temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-80s with partly sunny skies mixed with periods of rain.

Weekend conditions are expected to remain unsettled, though storm coverage may become more scattered. Saturday carries a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms with highs near 87 degrees, while Sunday will bring another opportunity for isolated storms with highs near 86 degrees.

Rain chances are expected to continue into Monday as scattered showers and thunderstorms remain possible across the region.

The National Weather Service encourages residents to remain weather aware throughout the week, especially during thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds.

Motorists are urged to use caution during periods of heavy rain and avoid driving through flooded roadways or areas where water covers the road surface.
