Students in Grant Parish have an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in agricultural research through a paid internship established in honor of longtime agricultural leaders Charles Broussard and Rose Broussard.
The internship was created by the Broussard family to recognize their parents’ lifelong dedication to agriculture and conservation.
Charles Broussard was a ninth-generation cattleman, rancher, and farmer, while Rose Broussard was known for her strong support and promotion of agricultural efforts.
The program offers selected students the opportunity to work with the LSU AgCenter at one of its research facilities, including the H. Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station, the Iberia Research Station, or the Dean Lee Research Station. These internships are primarily held during the summer, although flexible scheduling may be available.
The opportunity is open to both high school and college students who are enrolled either part-time or full-time. While preference will be given to students from Vermilion Parish, students in Grant Parish are encouraged to apply.
Interested students can request an application by contacting the Grant Parish 4-H Office. The deadline to apply is Friday, February 20, 2026.
For more information or to receive an application, residents may call the Grant Parish 4-H Office at (318) 627-3675.
Officials say the internship provides valuable real-world experience for students interested in agriculture, research, and conservation while honoring a family legacy rooted in Louisiana farming.
