A joint investigation conducted by the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Georgetown Police Department, and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has resulted in the arrest of a Georgetown man on multiple charges.
According to the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office, James Clifford Martin, 57, of Georgetown, was taken into custody following an investigation into suspected drug activity. Authorities charged Martin with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal use of drugs in the presence of children, and an outstanding warrant.
Sheriff’s officials credited the coordinated efforts of the involved agencies for the successful outcome of the investigation and emphasized the importance of interagency cooperation in addressing drug-related crime within the parish.
An arrest indicates that law enforcement had probable cause to believe an offense had occurred. All individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
