Grant Parish unveils new adoption trailer ahead of holiday parades

Grant Parish Animal Control is hitting the road this holiday season with a brand-new adoption trailer designed to better showcase adoptable dogs and connect with the community in a safe and welcoming way.

The newly unveiled trailer, already decorated for the holidays, will make its public debut this Saturday as it rolls through three local parades. Officials say the trailer represents a major step forward in outreach efforts, helping more residents learn about the wide range of services provided by Animal Control — including adoption, advocacy, and daily care for animals in need.

“This trailer is going to make it much easier, safer, and less stressful to get our dogs out into the community,” organizers said. “Many people are surprised to learn we do much more than pick up strays, and this helps us change that perception one adoption at a time.”

The custom-built trailer was constructed using mostly donated materials and countless hours of hands-on work. Much of the labor was provided by offenders who assist daily with caring for the dogs, along with skilled builders who work behind the scenes to support the parish’s animal care and control program. Those involved in the project take pride in the work and in the dogs they help care for until they find permanent homes.

Designed with animal comfort and safety in mind, the trailer features a roof to provide constant shade, space for dogs to move comfortably, and a pressurized water tank mounted at the front to keep them hydrated during events.

The parade appearances mark the start of the parish’s holiday adoption initiative, “Bring Them Home for Christmas.” Residents are encouraged to attend, wave along the parade route, take photos, meet some of the adoptable dogs, and help spread awareness and holiday cheer.

Officials hope the new trailer will play a key role in helping more dogs find loving homes this season and beyond.
