Vodka smuggling attempt foiled: Shreveport man arrested in Grant Parish

An investigation by the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of a Shreveport man accused of attempting to smuggle a large quantity of alcohol into a federal prison.

Authorities reported that 23-year-old John Mitchell of Shreveport was taken into custody after allegedly attempting to bring 12 gallons of vodka into the Federal Prison.

Mitchell was arrested and charged with Taking Contraband into a Penal Institution.

The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office emphasized that introducing prohibited items into correctional facilities poses serious safety and security risks. Officials say they remain committed to preventing contraband from entering penal institutions and will continue to investigate and prosecute such offenses.
