A South Carolina woman was arrested after authorities said methamphetamine was discovered concealed inside bracelets during a visit to a federal prison in Grant Parish.

According to the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified by federal prison officials after a visitor was suspected of passing drugs to an inmate.

During the investigation, deputies reportedly discovered that methamphetamine had been concealed inside bracelets. Authorities said the inmate was found hiding the bracelets in his mouth.

Jazmine Smith, 35, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and taking contraband into a penal institution.

The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office did not provide additional information regarding the inmate or whether additional charges are expected.

An arrest is an accusation, and all suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
