GRANT PARISH — Residents should prepare for another stretch of dangerous summer heat before scattered showers and thunderstorms return later this week, according to the National Weather Service.
Wednesday is expected to be the hottest day of the forecast, with temperatures climbing to 98 degrees and heat index values as high as 109 degrees. Rain chances increase beginning Thursday and continue through the weekend and into early next week.

The National Weather Service encourages residents to take precautions during periods of extreme heat by staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, wearing lightweight clothing, and taking frequent breaks in air-conditioned or shaded areas.
Residents are also reminded to check on elderly neighbors, young children, and other vulnerable individuals and to never leave children or pets unattended inside a parked vehicle, where temperatures can quickly become life-threatening.
