Warm temperatures and increasing rain chances expected across Grant Parish this week


Residents across Grant Parish can expect a mix of sunshine, warm temperatures, and increasing chances of afternoon thunderstorms as the region moves into the latter part of the week and weekend.

According to the latest forecast, Wednesday will bring partly sunny skies with a slight 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms developing after 1 p.m. High temperatures are expected to reach around 86 degrees, with light east winds near 5 mph. Overnight conditions will remain partly cloudy with lows dipping to around 68 degrees.

Similar weather is expected Thursday, with mostly sunny skies and a 20 percent chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

Temperatures will again climb to approximately 86 degrees before cooling to near 68 degrees Thursday night.

Rain chances increase heading into Friday as a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is forecast after 1 p.m. Despite the increased moisture, temperatures are expected to remain warm, reaching a high near 87 degrees. Friday night will be mostly cloudy with overnight lows around 71 degrees.

The wettest weather of the forecast period is expected during the weekend. On Saturday, showers and thunderstorms become likely during the afternoon hours, with a 70 percent chance of precipitation. Mostly cloudy skies and highs near 87 degrees are expected.

Rain chances decrease to 30 percent Saturday night, though cloudy conditions will continue.

Sunday will bring another round of unsettled weather, with a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms under partly sunny skies. Temperatures will rise to around 88 degrees before falling to near 72 degrees overnight.

Looking ahead to Monday, Grant Parish residents can expect partly sunny skies with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Afternoon temperatures are forecast to approach 90 degrees, making it the warmest day of the extended forecast.

With several outdoor activities, sporting events, and summer programs taking place throughout the parish, residents are encouraged to monitor weather conditions closely, especially during afternoon and evening hours when thunderstorms are most likely to develop.

Officials also remind residents to stay hydrated, limit prolonged exposure to the heat, and seek shelter immediately if thunderstorms approach.

The combination of warm temperatures and periodic rainfall will continue to create typical early-summer weather conditions across Grant Parish through the beginning of next week.
