Grant Parish Jury convicts Dry Prong man for smuggling meth into detention center

A Grant Parish jury has delivered its second guilty verdict against a Dry Prong man in less than 16 months, this time for smuggling methamphetamine into the Grant Parish Detention Center and distributing it to fellow inmates.

Henry Wilson, 57, of Dry Prong, was convicted April 22 on five counts — one count of introduction of contraband into a penal institution, three counts of distribution of methamphetamine, and one count of possession of methamphetamine — according to District Attorney Jay Lemoine.

The case stems from Wilson’s December 21, 2024 arrest following an investigation at the Grant Parish Detention Center. Authorities determined Wilson had smuggled approximately an ounce of meth into the facility when he was booked several days earlier. Evidence presented at trial showed Wilson distributed the drug to multiple inmates and used the substance inside the facility.

The conviction marks the ninth felony on Wilson’s record, which stretches back to the 1980s. His previous Grant Parish jury conviction, in December 2024, was for illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon — a charge stemming from a February 2023 traffic stop in which he attempted to flee before deputies found him in possession of a shotgun.

Sentencing has not yet been announced. DA Lemoine’s office is expected to recommend a maximum sentence.
