An investigation conducted by the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of a Georgetown man on multiple felony charges.
Sheriff’s officials announced that Edward Holmes Jr., 54, of Georgetown, was arrested and charged with three counts of disposal of property with fraudulent intent.
According to investigators, Holmes is accused of taking possession of logging equipment valued at more than $150,000 and allegedly selling or concealing the equipment while refusing to repay the financial institution that provided the loan for the machinery.
The investigation determined that the equipment was improperly disposed of despite an outstanding obligation to the lending bank, prompting criminal charges.
Holmes was taken into custody without incident. The case remains under investigation, and additional information may be released as it becomes available.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
